Product Introduction

This instrument, the HST-CAT100, is an upgraded version designed according to the basic parameters and requirements specified in GB/T1540-1989, "Determination of Water Absorption of Paper and Paperboard (Cobb Method)". The instrument features a touchscreen, including the commonly used absorption time in the standard, automatic timing, and an alarm prompt when the time is up. This standard is applicable to determining the water absorbency of various paper or paperboard surfaces. However, it is not applicable to accurately evaluating the writing performance of paper or paperboard.

Paper and Paperboard Surface Water Absorption (Cobb) Value: The amount of water absorbed by the surface of paper and paperboard per unit area under certain pressure and temperature within a specified time, expressed in g/m². The specific formula is as follows: C = (G2 - G1) × 100. Where: C - Cobb water absorption value; G2 - mass of the sample after water absorption; G1 - mass of the sample before water absorption. The paper and paperboard absorbency tester is a standard instrument for testing the surface water absorbency of paper and paperboard, also known as a paper surface absorption weight tester. This instrument employs the Cobb test method, one of the various methods for absorbency testing, and is therefore also called the Cobb Absorbency Tester.

Technical Parameters:

 1. The inner cross-sectional area of the metal cylinder is 100±0.2 cm² (corresponding inner diameter 112.8±0.2 mm), the cylinder height is 50 mm, and the part of the cylinder's annular surface in contact with the sample should be smooth.

2. The basis weight of the absorbent paper is 200–250 g/m², and its absorption rate is 75 mm/10 min.

3. When the basis weight of a single layer of absorbent paper is less than 200–250 g/m², multiple layers can be stacked to meet the requirements.

4. Smooth metal flat roller: the roller width is 200±0.5 mm, and the mass should be 10±0.5 kg.
